Curator Sharon Sadako Takeda produced the Reigning Men exhibition at the LACMA heavily focusing on the movements and influence of Menswear. We were lucky enough to catch the last few days of the exhibition before it ended. It was compelling to re-examine the themes of Menswear over the past 300 years and how it has evolved.
For Punk and Metal subculture being a huge influence in our studio, it was fun to study an actual Ramone's fan leather jacket from the 1970's. Details that stood out on the jacket: a Samantha Fox pin (iconic), the safety pins/chains (we obviously love) and metal caps from disposal cigarette lighters.
